July Moon landing 10

Regular entry price £12.00 Special Offer

This July we are running, walking, cycling, or swimming our way to completing a 10k distance created exclusively to mark the first crewed mission to land on the Moon, on 20 July 1969, by the United States’ Apollo 11.

10 miles or 10km this July maybe one small race for you but it marks one giant leap for mankind.

UK Astronomy (lead entirely by volunteers)

Bringing people and communities together through the power of Astronomy.

Who are UK Astronomy and what is our aim?

UK Astronomy is a charity set up by husband and wife team Frankie and Ross Hockham.  A dedicated group of volunteers visit local schools, community interest groups, fetes, events, public functions and shows.  We use the power of astronomy to bring together communities.

During our daytime events we allow safe observing of the Sun through our Solar Telescopes and our night events to observe our nearest stars, galaxies, planets and nebulae.

UK Astronomy works alongside other charities such as the local deaf astronomical society, and we have also worked alongside other charities such as GRASP, an autism charity to ensure that we are inclusive of all.

Last year, UK Astronomy managed to run over 45 outreach events - inspiring hundreds of children to become the next Tim Peake or Helen Sharman, and let’s not forget the adults, some of whom captured their first images of the moon and saw a solar flare through a scope (safely of course) for the first time.

We raise all of our money from public donations and from our events and have several events planned for 2019 already - with bookings from schools, care homes, Brownie and Scout groups, WI’s and also working alongside the national trust at Stowe House and Dunstable Downs.

With your support, we can continue to inspire future generations and reignited passions.
