Charity - Louie’s helping hands
Louie’s Helping Hands is small family run charity. Our aim is to support children with complex physical and medical needs based in Kent and the South east, who attend a newly formed small independent special needs school and Nursery.
Our charity and The Llewellyn School and Nursery were established due to the sudden closure of The Royal School for Deaf Children in Margate, leaving many children without a suitable school provision. One of those pupils was our lovely Louie! After over two years at home it became clear Louie would not return to school, due to the lack of suitable provision available locally. Louie’s mum Sara, set up a small independent school in an annex within her home so that he and other children could return to school.
We provide through funding and fundraising events, valuable therapies the children and families found difficult to now access. Therapies such as Hydrotherapy / Swimming Sessions, Horse Riding, Art & Music Sessions and Cookery. Combined these therapies contribute to the children’s wellbeing, by building muscle tone, core strength, confidence, independence, they help to build friendships with peers and not forgetting they are FUN!
Due to the success of Sara’s unique, holistic approach and team the school has out grown the current annex. We have kindly been gifted land on a beautiful county park estate and the school have planning permission to build a new timber framed school & therapy centre.
We are now embarking on our largest project: to relocate and build ‘The Llewellyn School and Nursery’ within the Quex Park Estate. Here, the children will have the environment and space to help reach their full potential, they will have access to a new inclusive playground to enjoy at school and with siblings at the weekends, woodland walks, horse riding onsite and many more amazing opportunities.
